May 30th and 31st, “The Soul of Spring” 2026
Spring 2026 Concert: ‘The Soul of Spring’ is Command Performance Choir’s annual concert savouring the long awaited and much anticipated arrival of spring!
Representing a cross section of Canada, the music for this very Canadian concert comes to you from Sea to Sea to Sea. On the menu – our country’s rich tradition of folk music, featuring Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell, our Celtic roots with music from the Maritimes, Montreal’s Jazz king Oscar Peterson, Indigenous music inspired by Nunavut and a soupçon of Art songs from Ontario to British Columbia. These works and much, much more are all a part of the smorgasbord of beautiful, expressive choral music the choir is preparing to share with our community.
Saturday May 30th, 7:30 pm and Sunday May 31st, 2:00 pm.

Command Performance is Prince Edward County’s community choir, founded in 1988. The choir was formed by a small group of local singers who had come together with various artists and groups from as far away as Kingston to perform in the Quinte Summer Music festival. To date, we have fifty members from all over the County as well as from Trenton and Belleville.
The choir is committed to providing a variety of music for a Christmas and a Spring Show. The choir has always reached out to the community to sing at other venues and this year we have actively sought out opportunities to make such appearances.
Moira Nikander-Forrester, BA, B Ed.
The director since 2003 has brought to the choir a tremendous amount of energy as well as artistically challenging music with many different styles and genres. Moira has a wealth of experience as a music teacher in the County and Belleville schools and is very active in the Belleville musical theater field.
Shelley MacKenzie-Coates, B. Mus., B. Ed., M. Ed., ARCT,
A member of the choir since 2022, Shelley is pleased to now be supporting the choir as accompanist. Shelley has been involved in musical activities and roles since a child, including piano instructor, Youth Theatre, church and community choir director, and accompanist. Shelley enjoyed a rewarding career with the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board in the roles of Secondary Music and English teacher, Curriculum Co-ordinator, and finally, School Administrator. Retirement is allowing Shelley the opportunity to return to her musical roots with Command Performance Choir and the Belleville Theatre Guild’s musical theatre productions.
Rehearsals are held on Monday Evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. In order to ensure balance between sections we would need to hear your voice to ensure that there would be a good fit for both the needs of the choir and you as an individual.
